There is a more rugged path going north from Willard all the way to Shakas Rock. Willard Beach offers safe bathing with lifeguards and shark nets in place. Further north at Thompsons Bay there is a large tidal pool.
Guests at The Boathouse can easily access all the best of this area and happily plan a number of excursions. The glory of the Zulu Kingdom and historic battlefields can be found further north and the fantastic Drakensberg Mountains in the west.

Take the N2 highway North from Durban.
± 50km from Durban, take the Ballito / Compensation turn-off.
At the Stop, turn right to Ballito.
Follow this road, through all traffic circles, until you reach the first T-junction.
Turn right, and follow the road down to the 4 way-stop.
Turn right into Compensation Beach Road.
Follow the road, past all the stops and through the traffic circles.
The Boathouse will be on your left. Corner 33 Compensation Beach Road and Salmon Bay Drive.
